What goes into designing a logo? Well, when you know that a picture is worth a thousand words, I wanted our logo to represent at a glance what we sell. When my sister's anual Christmas gifts of jewelry to her husband's colleagues were Sun Catchers instead of necklaces that they wore to the party, she realized they could be both. For windows. And for wear! All we had to do was make sure the top of each Sun Catcher was finished with a good pendant ring.
I just had to pick a window style that would be attractive, traditional, and adequately frame a graphic symbol of a Sun Catcher. The 'model' for the wear had to look feminine, modern, and attractive. I framed her in an oval to make the entire logo softer and not too angular. Even though we make a lot of other jewelry, especially for our specific customers in boutiques, and sold on Etsy as "Bling Things" we still like this logo for our main line. When people ask me what we do, and I say, " We make Sun Catcher Pendants for windows or wear", they look a little perplexed until I point to the one I"m usually wearing. Then they say, "Oh. It's just jewelry!" "NO! We also sell the suction cup hooks so you can hang them in a window. " So we have changed the name to BLING THINGS to hang or wear. The other reason for that is that they don't just hang in windows, they hand on car mirrors, decorative stands, Christmas trees, landscaping, umbrellas, candelabras... we may have to change our logo!!!!
